- 1997-2000: Botanical Horticulturist at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew: Gardens Development Unit Media Liaison, Conservation Projects Development Unit, Kew Mutual Improvement Society (Treasurer and Technician), and Kew Student Union (Secretary and President).
- 1996: Horticulturist, Lotusland, Montecito, California. Summer position in the Living Collections specializing in the Rose Garden and development of the Palm Garden.
- 1996: Co-Manager of the Chumash Point Ethnobotanic Preserve and Lifescape for the Environmental Horticulture Department, SB City College. Created and implemented interpretation for the Lifescape, coordinated horticultural projects for classmates.
- 1995: Laboratory Assistant in Biology Department, University of California, Santa Barbara. Specialized research assistant to Dr. Paul Neal, to study Spergularia marina.
